I have read a few threads where the numbers 47/49 or 38/49 were given to talk about the front springs on the 4X4's. Are these spring rates or part #'s or what?

I ordered my truck w/the snowplow option to get the heavy duty front springs and I want to make sure I have them. I looked at a truck w/o the snowplow option and it had the same number on a blue sticker on the springs as mine did. My truck is a regular cab and the other truck was a club cab long bed. I guess a reg. cab with a snowplow option gets club cab springs?

I would like to order the stoutest springs, does anyone w/ a 3500 club cab and a snowplow option have the part no. off of their springs?I figure that a 1 Ton club cab would be the heaviest and require thicker coils and a stiffer rate. If anyone has ANY info on front springs it would be greatly appreciated.....

Thanks in advance,Thomas

Thomas, the higher the number the stiffer the spring and both sides are never the same number, I think they put a stiffer one on the drivers side ?

Thomas, your right about the reg cab w plow prep getting club cab springs. You should have a set of 039/038,or 046/039. I plow and my truck had the 039/038 fatcory combo. I bought the 047/046 ,and they rode way to hard. you really willl hate them with a lighter reg cab truck. I ended up with the 046/039 setup, this carries my 980 lb 9'2" boss V plow great. and it rides excellent too. You can see how my truck carrries the big V plow here,,with no ballast in the bed at all,the truck sits nicely, considering the weight, and size of the plow. http://www.angelfire.com/ct/construction/johnd.html

THANKS for the info!!! I am real happy with how the truck rides but I do not want the front end to sag when I put a winch on the truck. After seeing the pictures of SNOWMAN's truck w/the snowplow on it I don't think I will have a problem w/ sagging.

Dave , I looked at the web site to find more info but I could not find any;if you do find more info I would greatly appreciate you posting it. TIA.

Is there any other difference in the Snowplow package than the front springs and the H. D. tranfercase? On a older sales brochure(1995) it stated up graded severe-duty front springs and heavy duty brackets for all front end components. I don't know if this was just sales talk or if there is actually a difference. I can't see the difference in brackets in any trucks that I have looked at.
