I have 37000 mi. on my 04. 5 2500 4x4 CTD and have started hearing what sounds like dried out rubber bushings rubbing while driving over small bumps at low speeds. Doesn't do it all the time... starts after driving 10 miles or so. Noticed it for the first time last week while driving with the radio off.

Any thoughts on whether it is the shocks or the other non greaseable suspension components?

I think I've got the same problem after 260,000 miles. I had just had the heater box replaced and figured they had left something loose in the steering column, which they drop to the driver seat.

They said "no", it was a loose isolator in the steering column itself. My problem is, it never did it until they stripped the dash out.

Anyway, I'ver never read anything about it here, so @ $600 for a new steering shaft, I was fixin to look used. No aftermarket available. There should be some totaled '03 dually's out there by now. I could get me a new driver seat and some other typical wear items off the same truck while I was at it.

I plan on a paint job in the spring which brings me to another problem nobody has mentioned ... ... ... ..... how are you keeping paint on the air-air tanks?
