I have 100,000 miles on my 1998 Ram 2500 and have replaced the trac bar once, and the bushing is warn again. Is there an aftermarket fix or do I dare buy from the dealer again???

Moog makes a replacement trac bar in their "Problem Solver" line. It uses a slightly larger ball joint with an M2 gusher bearing and has a lifetime warranty. You should be able to get it at any NAPA, Carquest or Auto Value parts store. Don't have part number handy or I'd post it.

Good Luck

Paul, Is the Moog (FM) unit rebuildable? Oh, that right if it's "lifetime" why bother. . . . Magic question time . . . . how much$

If you just want a replacement bushing, the guy at Lukes links have urethane bushings for the track bar for about $12. 00. I bought a link and a bushing. It did tighen up my steering but I still have undiagnosed problems in my front end.

As for the Moog part, my local NAPA could not help me even though I had the Moog part number. No luck at two other chain parts houses either. The Moog (Federal Mogul) web site was a big fat ZERO too. I could not find any suspension parts for my 99 2500.

I also called 4 Wheel Parts in CA about bushing. They would have to special order them from Energy Suspension and I did not want to wait that long. I also asked about sway bar bushings too. I guess I could call one of the speed shop places and see if they have better delivery times and prices if I get back in the mood to tackle the sway bar.

Just put on Friday

After I got the old one off I compared MOOG to DC. There is no comparison, the Moog (FM) had a much larger joint end and joint by far. Took it for alignment yesterday and now drives like the 2002 I drove last week w/117 miles on it. Thanks MOOG!
