Anybody found one for the 2500-3500 '03? I did a search and found very here or out on the web. Apparently a company called Torque Lift makes them but I can't find any info on them. Any ideas?

The two names I've heard most often are Drawtite and Hidden Hitch. Maybe if a bunch of folks ask for them, they'll make one. I <believe> there is already one out for the non sport 1500, but a lot of good that does us...

warn has them out now, just put one on my truck. big pain in the rear. pay someone, much easier. cut and put license plate mount back on looks much better.

Not yet...

I did an extensive search just last week for a front bolt on 2" receiver. The only thing I found was the one by Warn and I didn't want to loose my tow hooks. I contacted Torklift, Reese, Drawtight, Hidden, and a few others. Most of them said they hope to have one ready by this fall. No one could commit to a date. I found a local RV/Hitch company. They said they will build me one and install it for $225. I may just do this since I can't afford to wait much longer. I need one for a winch mounted on a carrier that can go from front receiver to back receiver as needed.

I recommend checking again at the end of August. I wouldn't expect anything sooner. :(

Is the front hitch for backing a boat down the ramp? Or parking a trailer in a tight spot? If you put it on the right rail it moves the trailer far enough over so you get a good view for parking from the driver seat. Otherwise you just see the front of the trailer. Or are you using it for something else?

OK, I'm itching to see this. I went by 4wheel putz *****salers this morning but I guess I didn't rate any personal attention. I was thinking of fabing something up but by the time I do that I'd be well beyond the cost of anything if I factor in my time in doing so. Bring forth the pics!

DBVZ, I plan to use mine for a winch mount. Had one on my '01 and it worked great. I ran power cable to both the front and the back so I could winch either way. I also put the SB175 connectors on my jumper cables so I could jump with opening the hood and from either front or back.

Thanks,

Darren

I see. I had something like that built once, and used it as a removable rear wench. I did not add a front mount. Prersonally, I would still put the receiver on the right rail and just not leave the wench on it. That way it works for either the wench or tight manuvering of a trailer, and you don't need the cross member to move the receiver to the mid point between the rails. Or are you pulling so hard you could pull the frame out of square?

Another possibility

Silver Star Mfg makes a big steel bumper that he can weld a receiver tube into the bottom of. Very good bumpers with or without the winch inside. If you like big bumpers.

Frnt hitch for 03 2500

This is what I did for a hitch type reciever on the front of my 03 2500.

I bought some 3/8" X 4" flat bar and some 3" X 3" square tube, with 1/4" thick walls.

I cut and fit pieces of the flat bar to match the bolt holes for the front bumper, then cut to fit a piece of the 3x3 box tube to fit snug in between the downward protruding pieces of flat bar, making sure that my cross tube was well enough below the cooler lines, radiator ect.

I welded the 3x3 cross tube to the flat bar, and in my case, what I wanted was a center tube reciever for my winch and bike rack to insert into.

I removed the lic place mounting thing and turned it upside down and remounted it and the plate. It raises the plate a tad bit, but not a lot, and it still looks proper.

I cut a hole in the lower bumper plastic flair thing to occomadate the tube that I cut, drilled to fit and inserted it through the flair and then welded it solid to my 3x3 cross tube. Now Im not going to swear just how strong this thing is, as it is bolted to the truck with the original 2 bumper bolts on each side, but from my past experience in welding and fabricating, im sure this thing would move any travel trailer, boat trailer and do most winching jobs.

Of course, if i was gong to move a travel trailer, I would have put my reciever tube to one side so i could see down the side of the trailer, or with what I have, one can be added at any time.

If anyone desires any pictures, please email and I will take some and send them to you, not any good at the posting them here.

Thanks Rich

a buddy's Ford 350 has the Warn transformer system. His tow hooks come out and then re-attach to the Warn. So whats' the story with the 03 RAM's? that would be a real disapointment to loose the hooks, but I could live with re-attaching them to a spot on the warn bar.
