I'm in the middle of yanking my front brake rotors so I can get them turned and all I have is a crummy Chilton's manual to extract information from. What I need is the torque when seating the wheel bearings. The Chilton's says to torque the hub nut to 50 ft lbs while rotating the rotor back and forth. The loosen the nut 1/4 turn. Is this the correct procedure? Anybody????

This right out of my Dodge manual, I have a 92.
Front wheel bearing inner nut-torgue to 50 lbs then loosen and retorgue to 31 to 39 ft lbs then back off 135 to 150 degrees. I usually will finger tighten it a little, it seems to loose to me when I shake the wheel, my preferrence.

Outer nut torgue to 160 to 205 ft lbs.
