I would like to know also.

Is it the the same bearing setup as the 2WD once the locking hubs are disassembled? Any tricks to disassembling the manual locking hubs?

I did brake discs and wheel bearings on my 1993 Toyota 4WD pick-up and it was pretty straightforward. The hardest part of that job was the concentric washers that rust in place.

I made it back. :D

You will need a set of allen wrenches. A set of snap ring pliers with a . 090" tips on them. A couple of small screw drivers straight bladed. A large screw driver. The socket that goes on the retainer nuts. ( I couldn't find mine to give you the number off of it. Our trucks do not use a 5 sided nut on the retainers. It is a round nut with holes in it that the socket has pegs to fit into). A hammer and a small/large punch. C clamp and needle nose pliers.

Jack the vehicle up and support properly. (safety first)

Remove the allen bolt holding the caliper wedge in place. Take the hammer and punch and remove the wedge. Use the larger srew driver and compress the caliper piston enough for it to slide off the rotor. Remove the caliper and wire it up to the frame out of the way. (DO NOT let it hang by the hose).

Take the lockout hub off. It is held on with 6 allen head bolts. Lay it aside.

In the center of the inside part of the lockout you will see the axle stub in the center. Take the snap ring off of it.

Look real close between the lockout and the hub assy. There is another round ring that holds the lock out piece into the hub assy. Use the two small screw drivers and remove this ring. Then the lockout assy will slide out.

Now your down to the retainer nuts. You can use a punch to remove the retainer nuts. (I would recommend getting the correct socket myself). Remove the outer retainer nut. Reach in with the needle nose pliers and pull out the locking ring. Then remove the inner nut. Hit the rotor assy gentley and the outter bearing should pop right out. Then grab the rotor and pull gently and the hub assy should slide off.

Take a large blunt punch and drive the inner bearing out of the hub. Clean bearings, regrease them, reinstall inner bearing, install new seal. Reinstall hub assy. (If you see any pits, discoloration, scoring, wear marks on the bearings. Replace them).

Reassy is just the oppsite. To set the wheel bearing preload. Tighten to the inner nut to 31 to 39 ft/ lbs torque while turning the hub assy. Then back the nut off 135 to 150 degrees to set free play. Turn the nut assy as needed to aleign a hole with the locking ring.

Use the C clamp to compress the brake caliper to reinstall it.

This should get you going. If you ave any questions let us know.
