Hello,

After 10 winters of the frozen windows, my driver side window finally failed.

By failure I mean that if I command the window down I hear and feel the drive mechanism pull away from the glass.

Once the door thawed out, the glass will start to go down and then it tips forward. At this point I can drive it shut but I fear the auto down feature will soon break something else if I am not careful.

I did a quick thread search and only found some 2003 articles about replacing a nylon ball.

Anyone familiar with what normally fails on a winter frozen power window on this 2nd gen cab? Is the fix difficult?

It will have to wait until I return from Florida in February.

Thanks and happy new year to all.

David

It sounds like the channel has come off of the bottom edge of the glass. I've had good luck gluing the glass back into the channel with the same urethane we use for installing windshiends.

There is a roller held on with a rivet, too. The rivet on my used powerwindow conversion was broken and i stole the roller and rivet off my manual setup to fix it.
