OK, so this 47 year old guy was fired from the IRS because of psychological problems. He has been institutionalized 5 (five) times by psychologists and has been deemed dangerous and suicidal... . yet, he was able to get a gun, and get to the Whitehouse gate!!! If our present laws were enforced, this man would have not been able to get a weapon... a background check would have shown he is fruitloops. So, look out now... the Million Moms are gonna pound the table for a gun-free America again!

BCFAST, are you advocating background checks on all gun sales? This guy was a criminal. There is NO WAY to prevent criminals from getting guns, not even enforcing all of the gun laws on the books right now. You can even ban guns outright, and criminals will get them. It all stems from the fact that criminals by nature have no respect for and will not follow the law. The law affects only honest people. Criminals are not affected until they are caught, while we must jump through hoops to enjoy a chosen sport. Guns themselves are not the problem, people are.

Hardly related to the subject, but I saw this bumper sticker at an outlaw bikers residence that we raided with the FBI a few years ago. It read "GUNS DON'T KILL PEOPLE, POSTAL EMPLOYEES DO". Yes, he was a Postal employee #ad
I have the sad misfortune of living in NJ (sad due to the control lobby that is firmly in place in this state). Every crime that is committed, especially with a handgun, gets alot of press. The liberals, who run the press IMHO, push the issue and their compatriots, the anti-gun lobby, pick up the ball and run it into the end zone, pushing more laws that the courts do not enforce (note that I said the courts). The new laws affect the law abiding citizen and make it yet more difficult for him/her to purchase a firearm legally. Does this affect the "bad guys". Not at all. They don't stop by the local P. D. to apply for a pistol purchase permit(required for EACH handgun bought in NJ. That's right, one permit=one handgun) to get a gun, they either burglarize your house for a gun or buy it on the street(someone else buglarized your house and sold it to them). No permits required. That being said, even in NJ, plenty of "psychos" can still get a gun at will. Just take a ride to the big city and pay out some $. Think about it. If it does not stop 'em here in NJ, why would it work anywhere else. The anti-gun lobby is only interested in stopping crime as a side note, what they really want is all of America to give up it's rights and become an "UNARMED AMERICA". Sorry for the long post. Maybe now that George W. is in office, we gain regain some sanity in this issue.

I agree with RHARVEY. people used to get hung for stealing a horse. now they (the criminals) can rape your wife, kill your family, burn your home and take your dodge and be out walking around free within a few years... and with a college education!!! We (society) have become soft. I say we hang the freeks.

Not diagreeing with you but the reason for hanging if horse was stolen in the west was if you didn't have a horse you were going any where far and probably die trying.

India custom for thieves I believe they lost there lifes the second time they were caught stealing.
About hanging them upside down cutting off their testicles and shoving them into there mouth. I had a manager that was in Vietnam they used to do that to the kong as warning not to attack the camp at night.

Recently several countries have passed gun bans and have experienced higher crime rates. The London Bobbies who were known for NOT packing guns now ARE carrying guns AFTER the gun ban because crime is rampant and criminals have nothing to fear. Does this make sense? Of course not! Let's not let this happen here!

I agree with you guys, we need to execute the punishments in public. To add to what Tom C said: if you do catch the guy and kill him (anyone who does that to MY wife will take upwards of a month to die), YOU are the bad guy. The fact he is a criminal can be blamed on a number of things, but your killing him while defending yourself and yours, well, you are just a bad person. To further prove how crooked our law enforcement community is: We live on a Dead End street in Loveland CO. Every day for the past 13-1/2 months, we have driven up to the curb in front of our house (on the left side of the street) and gotten out of our cars onto our yard. Keeps from haveing to walk through the snow on the street. Yesterday, my fiancee got a ticket for parking facing the wrong direction. HUGE SAFETY HAZARD. My god! there must be 3 or 4 cars a day pass our house, and most of them turn around a truck length past the neighbor's driveway. And yet, the a$$h*oles in the Lexus SUVs (Sh!##y Useless Vehicles) can tailgate you so you cant see their headlights in ANY of your mirrors, and they get no ticket. I saw a cop pull over someone in a Civic the other night, and he got ON THEIR BUMPER, then turned on his lights. Colorado may have beautiful scenery, but the cops around here scare the living crap out of me in what they can get away with. I know when I leave, I am never returning here. Come visit Colorado, enjoy the scenery. Just make sure you dont do anything dangerous, like park more than 10" from the curb.
