Gauge installers in CO?

Ok here is an update,

The price will be a flat rate of $25 per truck. We have a minimum of 15 trucks required to do this, so we need everybody to come. I'd guess we could run almost 30 if things go smooth. I might run my truck tommorow to get any bugs worked out and see how long it takes to get strapped down and such.

The address is 5720 s. Bueno Drive, Fort Collins, CO 80525. The shop is called PFI, they are an import performance shop but they seem pretty respectful of us diesel guys. To get there from I-25, my directions are to take the Harmony road exit (don't know the #) West to College (hwy 287). Then go South on College, until you see Tynan's car dealer ( they have a massive US flag, can't miss it). You'll turn East at the North edge of the dealers lot on Smokey Drive. Then a turn North on Bueno. I'll put up some signs once you're off of College.

I asked about if they did anything special for the auto's, they said they just put the shifter into third, run through the gears and when it shifts into third they nail the throttle. They said that this starts the graph out a little higher in rpm than with a stick shift but that's what they have been doing. Does that sound like the standard technique?

If you are going to come or at least might come, please send me a PM so I will know what kind of numbers to expect. I wouldn't want to have to invite the ford guys or anything as dramatic as that.

One more thing, they will postpone the day if it looks like we will get a big storm that day, so keep your fingers crossed for dry weather.

Thanks,

Matt

j-

Thanks pointing me to the PDR site. That truck has the identical setup, so it looks like a great reference. I suspect I'll lose a bit more through the auto, but it should be close.

Duallys?

Matt,

Did you ever decide if duallies would fit on the rollers? They neeed to be 94 inches wide at the outside for them to fit.

If they will fit, put my crew down for a total of three trucks. If not then two trucks from here will run.

Thanks for getting this going.

LaserBob;)

Hey Matt, you can count me in as long as the weather is good. That 2wd just don't go in the snow. Maybe I can test some of the new toys. You probably remember me from the wrench day at the Big O tire store.

Bob,

The dually's will fit as long as you don't watch it run. The outside tires will hang off the rollers, they have done it before and said it works fine you just don't want to look at it while it's running because it's kind of scary. Bring them on over and give it a shot:D

Mike,

First off, thanks for putting up with my annoying questions on the injector install;) . I am curious to see how well your truck will do on the dynojet. Hopefully you've got that turbo broke in now, I'd like to go for a spin with you and see what it'll do with the comp set on kill.

I haven't ran my truck yet, but will before the dyno day. I'll let ytou guys know how my truck does.

Matt

I have been several dyno days at PFI, they seemed to run very smooth. At the last event I asked if I could run my truck and they said the didn't have equipment to get rpms off diesels. so the results would not be accurate.

I was curious to know, so I went there sat and they had not yet installed the anchors for our long wheel base trucks. They were closed so I could not talk with them. So as of sat I don't think they can run our trucks at PFI.

Who has been working with them? Do you have any info on this?

Hello there, they do have the optical pickup for rpm's, I just looked at it last thursday. They have shown me some dyno sheets from diesels that they have ran before, and they do include torque which is basically what the rpm's are needed for to calculate. I have been talking to the manager Paul Hickman, he assures me that they have done diesel pickups before. I will get my truck down there before the 12th just to make sure there isn't any surprises once everyone shows up. Paul was telling me how they will tie our trucks down, and showed me the anchors they use.

Don't worry fella's, I will run my truck very soon and let you guys know how it does. Paul was happy to hear that all our trucks would be similar, that should help make things run smooth.

Keep the questions rolling in

Matt

mgoncalves,

I think I replied by PM but just makin sure. I will most definetely be there. We'll see how "good" I can be with the FMS installed and most likely still a stock transmission.

Sweeeeet, I can't wait to see that. Where are you coming from R. ebel?

Maybe, just maybe, I'll get my shot at the rollers tommorow

Matt

mgoncalves, I'm in Cheyenne.

azcummins, 370's, PDR pump (not a stupid pump but can't be to far from one), PDR cam, PDR ported and o-ringed head and 4"exhaust etc. etc.

Before the headwork, cam and HX50 were installed I last dynoed at 513hp & 1140tq.

Lookih better

I may get the chance to go!!! My wife has some computer training in Casper on thursday and friday and she is being receptive to possibly make a trip down Saturday morning :)

cheers, Kevin

I finally got on the dyno today:D :D

My uncorrected numbers were 203/436 with the comp turned off, and 274/579 with the comp turned to 5x5. I took some pictures so you guys can see how the wheels fit and how they strapped it down, but they e-mailed them to me and I don't know how to post them. If somebody who knows what they are doing wants to help, I can forward the pics to you and let you handle it.

Can't wait to see everybody there!!

Matt

Matt, those numbers look a little low for what you have, stock you should have 235/505 so I wonder how accurate this thing is?

What gear did he have you in?

Good to hear you got on it though :)

cheers, Kevin

Hi Kevin,

The only number that I thought was low was the torque with the comp turned up. However, on that run he started into it around 2000 rpm so I think I was already past true torque peak. The factory engine ratings are 245/505, but that is at the flywheel. You have to expect to lose some power going through the drivetrain. Both runs were made in fifth (direct) gear.

On my way there I was thinking I would be around 260- 270 hp with the winter fuel and all. So I was happy with the results and believe them to be pretty accurate.

On the other hand, they also gave me "corrected" numbers that seemed aweful generous to me. I don't think the SAE correction factor is as accurate with a turbo diesel as opposed to a naturaly aspirated gasser.

Any takers on helping me post the pictures?

Matt:

Not sure if you are coming down on Saturday to Castle Rock but would be a good way to get readings from a second different dyno. I will run Saturday and will be up there next Saturday as well. Not that I have any horsepower to speak of but will be interesting to see the difference just for fun. In Castle Rock about a 1 1/2 years ago my stock one ran 220 hp with a dirty K&N in the stock box and upgraded banjos and we then hooked up the EZ and it ran 247hp. Only difference between now and then is I now have the megacannon air filter and 43k more miles. Drag your rear on down here.

Matt, start your own album in the readers rigs, then we can check'em out there. If you can't figure them out, e-mail them to me and I'll set one up. -- email address removed --
