Yesterday in the local county paper here in Marin/Sonoma county California... i read that some punk tree-huggers went through a logging site in west marin county {that was actually a construction site building a damm for the fish}... anyway, these vandals saw a huge crane/excavator on the site and poured sand in the fuel tanks and tore electrical wiring apart in the engine compartment. Officials said it was a total loss and the criminals are still at large. CAN U BELIEVE the nerve of these idiots? all because they thought that trees were being taken down. .

Now they can cut down even more trees to pay for the damage to their machinery! I love the wilderness, but the guys like this are just plain nuts! Like what they do is any better than what they are trying to prevent!

We can only hope those "punk tree huggers" get caught one day doing wrong and nobody can hear em yelling way out there. Those types better always be looking over their shoulder because you never know who might walk up on em in the silence of the woods.

Granola-tree huggers

I'd like to know why those Birkenstock wearin', granola-eatin', flannel-backed tree huggers weren't at work... . stupid hippies. Probably the same morons that drive steel spikes into the trees in order to kill lumberjacks... . I love the forest, and the solitude and quietness of the outdoors too... but there's a better way of making your concerns known than killing a $250,000 machine.

I saw the post and had to check it out... .



It makes me feel good to know there's a few folks out there that can, forgive me, see the forest for the trees.



It makes no sense, these radicals are pretty much shut the timber industry in the Pacific Northwest down. But they will not be satisfied til every last operation is stopped. SOB's don't have enough prime pot growin ground, they keep going for more.



I'm 26 years in forestry management. It's nothing like it was when I started. Less trees are harvested, more trees are planted back and the regulations are so stringent, I'm surprised there are in timber companies in business here at all. The bigger ones have sold out the west coast properties and do all there logging in the South and East.



Most operations keep watchman on the site to protect their equipment. Its too bad this guy wasn't caught, even though, I'm sure he'd woulda been out of jail before the paperwork got processed.

accountant, to many envo's loose what really they

are after , and things just become a power issue.



the average consumer consumes about one tree

per year, things like paper, plastic, fuels,

ect, there are many things that we would be w/o

if not for trees, yes we need them , but thru

proper timber management,we will never run

out of trees. Most of these people are very 1 sidded , there goals will never work they

just dont know all the facts well.

There have been a few discussions on topics related to the environment in this forum as of late. It's sad that the harvesting of the resources of this earth are met with knee-jerk reactions by some. Conservation and progress go hand in hand, but the issues(oil exploration in Alaska, firefighters dying over protected salmon, the logging industry, etc. , etc. ) have been turned into moral debates wrapped in political correctness. Nothing will ever get accomplished with the type of flaming rhetoric that seems to exist in just about every issue that is debated. It comes down to watching to many soap operas and having to much time on hand to think. The warning that an idle mind is the devil's workshop rings with clarity and precision. Anyway, this is way to deep and philosophical for this time of the morning. Later.

Now, wait a minute - you just described me. I'm sitting here at my desk at work wearin 'those Birkenstocks'. I also wear my birks' when I go motorcycle riding because they're a heck of a lot easier to put on & off when I'm changing into my riding gear
