The label on the Valvoline/Cummins fuel additive recommends a use schedule of once every few thousand miles. Is this often enough to be effective? I'm on my fourth Dodge/Cummins, but have never used a fuel additive before. Thanks for your help.

Greg I have always used a fuel conditioner, I suppose its up to the individual but, I thinks injectors last longer, injection pumps, etc with the extra lubricity in the fuel, especially now with the new 15 PPM ultra low sulfer, more or should I say just about all of your lubricity is gone now, especially for the older diesels, like my VE pump '92, just my . 02c.

I thought that additive was more of a cleaner than anything else. That explains why they only recommend use every few thousand. A more "traditional" conditioner like Powerservice or Stanadyne also has detergent properties, but is meant to be used every fillup.
