I just recieved a email from cummins themselves they stated that it is not nessesary!! to add a fuel additive for the winter because it affects the cloud point of the fuel they are saying the same thing as the manual so it is not a definite yes or no but some one at cummins has to know I will call them this week and see what some else cummins has to say if all these additives aren,t nessesary Howes Winns Racor stanadyne Syn power approved for cummins ETC would all be out of business all these companies are repuatable And all these additives are USLD compliant so what gives? I had to think about that too... . They all say they are ULSD compliant... . BUT, i think what there meaning by that is you can put it in a truck that doesn't have a DPF and give the fuel its lubricity back to the fuel that has been taken out of the fuel... ... I had to think about it myself and read it a couple times... . Just because it's ULSD compliant doesn't mean it's DPF compliant..... Hopefully what i said made sense there...

As I understand the problem. The old diesel could go through the pipe lines with the lubricant added at the refinery. The lubricant now is added at the distributer. The reason the difference is the new lubricating formula will contaminate the pipe line making it unusable for jet fuel that goes down the same line. So it may be different some what from distributer to distributer. And as you start adding to the mix with your own chemicals you now may make a problem with your emission system on the 6. 7. I guess at this point you may become your own warranty. I’m not sure about all this but just something I read. So Doughboy21kd maybe right about what he is saying.

Okay, all you guys who don't think it's necessary to add anything to your fuel for winter use please at least take this one suggestion...

Buy AAA so they can come tow you every time you gel up and are stranded. I also strongly suggest a good heavy blanket, that cab is gonna get pretty cold waiting for the tow truck. :p

Srsly guys, ULSD WILL gel in cold weather, it's not some "magic fuel" that defies physics.

There are additive out there that you can run in the new 6. 7... I called Cummins Northwest and was told that you CAN run strictly Anti-Gel only additive... The one they reccomended was Power Service Arctic Express, Which is a Anti-gel Only additive, amsoil also makes cold-flo improver that you can use.

Howes

HOWES STATES THAT YOU CAN RUN THIER PRODUCT IN YOUR ENGINE AND THAT IT DOES NOT VOID ANY MANUFACTUERS ENGINE WARRANTY I never had my fuel gel up I seen it happen to other people and it really s___ks esecially when it is cold outside. Matt 2007. 5 QC laramie 4x4 dually
