My '08 6. 7 will sit for about 2 months in NJ (Jan & Feb) and in my past experience with diesels I have used fuel stabilizers. However, my owners manual states not to use any additives in the 6. 7
I say fill it up just before you put her to bed for those 2 months and not worry about it. You should have winter blend fuel in it already like we do here. Only my opinion.
The owners manual is covering normal operation. Based on your circumstance I would say a good additive can only help. You are only doing it once (or once a year), and for a specific reason, so I would feel good about doing it.
I use Redline 85+ every tank full to make up for the ULSD. I don't know if it has anti-bacterial agents in it or not, but its a great lubricator, and DPF safe.
I second Redline. It works great. We use Redline Diesel Fuel Catalyst
From their site:
Contains powerful high temperature detergents, lubricants and a combustion catalyst. This catalyst reduces smoke dramatically, reduces detonation, and improves fuel economy 4-8% based on fleet and dyno tests. The lubricants can reduce wear in low sulfur fuel by 75%, prolonging injector and fuel pump life. Corrosion inhibitors will help prevent rust and corrosion.
This diesel fuel additive complies with the federal low sulfur content requirements for use in diesel motor vehicles and nonroad engines.
