Joesoot, the additives can start on tank one and they all do a good job. The "Power Service" is easy to get, it is sold at Wal-Mart for 9 dollars and change for a gallon. I normally fill up when the needle says 1/2 a tank and I add about 6 or 7 ounces. Pick a brand you like and use it, or try them all. Pete

The pump guys I've talked to all recommend a good addative package. The Cummins, Standyne, lucas are all supposed to be very good. The pumps will last longer with additional lubricating of the additive and will also be cleaner. I think www.dieselpage.com has a good set of photos the difference additives make.

I've noticed after my first Stanadyne add to the fuel that my engine is running much quieter #ad
. I guess the lube in there must quieten down the pump.

I've been using Red Line 85+ Diesel fuel conditioner since 3k mi. at EVERY fill up until about 35k mi. or so, switching to Amsoil Diesel Fuel Concentrate, also at EVERY fill up. After talking with Bill K. last night I have decided to give the Stanadyne (Performance Formula?) a try. I will be ordering some this morning from D. I. S.

Any opinions as to which Stanadyne product to order (specifically)? I'm primarily interested in the lubricity aspects, with injection system cleansing as a secondary feature... anything else is icing on the cake.

PS: I have had real good results with both the Red Line 85+ and the Amsoil Diesel Fuel Concentrate, circumstances and injector cleanliness (per visual inspection as compared to countless other sets of injectors removed with LESS mileage) have proven this... just thinking there may be a better mousetrap out there.

Well, at first I was somewhat skeptical of Stanadyne products, as I have been using Amsoil exclusively for quite some time. Last weekend at the RMTDR meeting (Central Motive Power) they gave out one-shot bottles of the Stanadyne product. I was pleasantly surprised. The next morning when I fired big blue up, the injection pump was noticeably quieter. Now I can't say if there is a performance or economy increase (yet), but I feel if it quiets the injection pump down that much, it must be doing something. My $. 02 worth.

Well, I took the plunge... I ordered a case of Stanadyne Performance Formula (Blue... pint containers) today. We'll see how it compares to the Amsoil and Red Line Diesel fuel conditioners I have been using.

An excellent place to purchase Stanadyne products is D. I. S. (Diesel Injection Service)... excellent prices and customer service. They can be reached at 1-800-658-9355
