If it was legal, I'd be running Jet A in my old '93 just because I can get limited quantities for free, and the '93 doesn't really care as long as it resembles diesel fuel and will move through the filter. Jet A is really clean stuff, but a little dry so some lubricity additive would be needed.
I'd be afraid to run anything besides clean ULSD in my '07. 5. Those injectors are sensitive, and darned expensive. Same with the turbo. You don't want anything that might clog up the VVT. They already have some issues with clogging.
In aircraft, some soak the turbo's in Berryman B-12. It's a really good solvent, but I don't know if anything in our VVT's might be damaged by it's use. For now, I've got a warrantee and I don't intend to mess around with the engine. Knock on wood, it's run perfect so far but I may need that warrantee some day.
