Just fueled up with straight #2 fuel , added 3oz. B g fuel additive . Went 140 miles . 12 above zero . Averaged 20. 4 mpg

If you saw how the fuel arrives in the pipe lines and how it is treated before it is delivered and how bad some of these stations tanks are you would see WHY using additives every single tank is imperative.

Don't buy into the fairy tale that all is needed is good clean fuel because that language does not exist. Cummins and Bosch have both adopted a FUEL QUALITY standard and the only way to meet the standard is additives and extra filtration. Unfortunately, that is on you to maintain because its a good bet 95% of the diesel sold by retailers will NOT meet the standards.

As a rule, those trucks having the longest life of fuel system components and the least problems are in fact running additives and additional filtration. Where you are at it would be no question using additives every tank this time of year. In addition, better filtration plus water seperation with an additional fuel heater would be a really good idea.

:-laf There are creatures in the station tanks that MADE ME SQUIRM  BIG GEEN GOB'S OF PLANT LIFE AND CREEPIE CRAWLEY THINGS

NO I TRIED TO BY-PASS THE CUSSING FILTER next time you see a tanker dropping fuel any kind gas/diesel walk over and ask to look into the fill drop ( the hole that he has the hose connected to ) you will go BIG TIME ON FILTERS AND ADDITIVE.

BIG

PS Cummins is into fixing and SELLING PARTS do you really think they are telling you the whole story. Same with the maint schedule thats if you want to fix it sooner or hopefully take it back to the dealership to have them fix it. THEY ARNT IN THE BUSINESS TO MAKE IT LAST LONGER FOR YOU.

SORRY BOB BUT THAT IS JMO!!!

Now Big, you know that is not a fair comparison. Where you were at, mobile green gobs and creepy crawley things were common fixtures on every street corner and alley way. :-laf

Up north, Mother Nature takes care of the less resistance strains of fauna and flora so they do not survive year round. Their propogation is severely limited also. :D

Hard to look appealing when the hookers have on a foot thick layer of clothes up here.

So Ca was bad it didn't rain that much so they hose down the station and owner would drain the water into the fill buckets into the tank and then pump into yours. Had several stations that have to have 5 gal of BIOCIEDS DUMPED IN EVERY FUEL DROP plant life so thick it needed a lawnmower to help out. Go to Palm Desert or Cathedral City lift the fill lids and had to DIG DOWN in SAND!!! TO THE CAP so you could hook up the hose to drop the fuel. We use to use water paste on the tank stick looks like shoe polish turns a bright RED in water. I one time put on 3 inches on the tank stick it was red, put on 8 inches it was red WENT SOME PLACE ELSE FOR MY DIESEL

Ya our fuel up here in MT ain't to bad really just got to watch the water content. I get a veeder root reading before I fill its electronic and tells how much water is in the tank. If they wont let me get a print out NO FUEL FOR ME!!!

Just made a round trip to Utah for a load of hay, 880 miles. Temps down to -8 at times, fueled up at 7 different stations, empty fuel milage with trailer (12,500#) 13. 5 mpg, loaded (24,500#) 8. 9 mpg, this was a lot of night driving so I was driving slow. Not an ounce of additive was used or needed:)

I like the Power Service Products every fill up. I constantly see good mileage and the fuel filter is noticeably cleaner when using the additive.

I work out of Wildhorse, Nevada. Last week the temperature dipped to around -23 degrees for about 4 nights straight. For whatever reason I let my 2005 2500 set for two days and nights without running it or plugging in the heater.

Driving to work the next morning, I got about 20 miles out when the truck just died on me ( like it was out of fuel). I got a ride in to work and got a mechanic to bring me out to the rig. He pulled the fuel filter and added a little red power service. We waited about 1/2 hour and I was back in business.

I now am keeping the block warm at night and power service in the tank until the temperature starts to rise.

So far , we have had a moderate winter here in s. d. , temps at or a few degrees below 0 for nighttime lows. Just been running #2 fuel with b. g. additive . Was told by my mechanic that #2 with additive good to about zero . Below that he said 30% # 1 per tank with additive good to about 15 below . Keep truck in heated garage at night . Temp was 5 above this a. m. 48 miles one way to work , got 21:3 m. p. g. at 55mph all highway miles . The faster I go the less m. p. g. I get . At 65 mph get about 18 m. p. g.
