hey ya'll im in the process of wiring up a fuel switch that when activated will not allow the fuel solenoid to activate and therefore keep the truck from starting. how ever my problems comes in the fact that i don't know which wire to splice into to do this looking at the fuel soleniod there are three red black adn white the red has constant power the white no power(w/ key off) and the black i assume is ground since there is also no power my question is which is the best one to hook into im think either the white or the black since my feeling is the white is the one that makes everything move or the black since no power to ground no operation of device. i leaning towards the black since the switch will last longer on the ground side then on the power side but im not sure of everything im looking at and want to make sure im splicing the right wires before i cut and screw it all up so any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advanced matt

Look in the upper right hand corner of that page.

One is ground, pull-in solenoid, the other is the hold in solenoid. You want to put the switch on the pull-in circuit or ground. I'd probably use the ground wire for the switch.

Use a relay or a heavy duty switch (something that will handle 20-30 amps).

You could use a switch to kill the starter as well. Then they won't wear down the batteries from all of the cranking, if they really want it bad.

well i went ahead before i was able to read this and trapped the white wire wich must be the pull in cause it will not start but once running wont kill w/ the switch

Yours is one yr newer so not sure on part if this , but my has 2 relays , one is the pull-fuel on , and the other is hold-keep on , the pull relay is rated at 70 amps . that would take a more expensive hard to get sw. , so I would come off the wire that turns on the relay- light duty , coming from the ing. sw.
Do not have a wiring diagram with me , so unplug relay and see witch wire lites up with the keyin the start posission .

John,

The other relay is the fuel heater. The hold coil runs directly from the ignition on circuit. It's very low current. No need for a relay.

Look at the fuse box diagram. There should be one labeled fuel relay (or similar). Pull the fuse and you can run a switch with an inline fuse across the two terminals. The truck will start but die as soon as the key is released from the start position.

well ive had mine on now for a few days and its not causing any problems the switch is not big but has screw type holders on the poles and the only onse lik ethat that i have ever seen are fairly heavy duty but i don't realy know how much it will hold. like i said ealier i tapped the white wire wich im think more and more is the pull in wire because once the truck is started it wont kill it. it will only keep it from starting. in all tho it works perfectly next is to make one for the starter so that it won't even crank.
