I have been looking in to performance upgrades for my 99 ram . There is some confusion as to how the manufactures control the injection pump. I like the Edge EZ,Torque Dog ,and the TST boxes that put out 40-60 hp. This truck is stock and is used to tow the camper. I also realize that i will need to upgrade the transmission. I was looking into a PRO TORQUE T/c. T he cost was around 700 dollars. Has anyone tried this converter? One more question , what is meant by the term cut the injection pump wire? I thought the fuel box was a plug n play set up. Thanks for your input.

"Tap the pump wire" refers to hooking up a higher HP box that also hooks to the pump to give more fuel. With just an edge EZ you are probably ok with a stock trans. The upgrade is a good idea though, as you will likely want more and more power and need it pretty soon. I would but one of the bigger boxes and run it on a lower setting until the trans is upgraded. After that if you are still content condolences or congradulations are in order. Most of us keep going higher. But at least if you do crave more you don't have to buy another box. Jake

I agree with JFinke.

The first mod i did to my truck was a comp box (without the pump wire tapped) set up to run as an ez. When i bought the box, i was having a hard time deciding between the ez and the comp. At the time, i was certain that an ez was as far up the power ladder as i ever wanted to go. 100% certain.

6months later, i was in NY having Snow man put a DTT transmission in my truck, so i could tap the pump wire and install the injectors that i had already bought.

So the moral of my story is, unless you have a lot more self control than i do, get the comp first time around. If you buy an ez, you'll wish you had bought a comp within the first 6months.

Even if you never tap the pump wire, it's nice to be able to turn it on and off (go from stock to ez mode) I liked this in the beginning, because after a while i would get used to the ez, and the truck felt weak again. so i would turn it off, run around for a few days at stock power, and then when i turned it back on again, i could feel the extra power. (i know, i'm sick)

Hope this helps. Good luck (and unless you want to get hooked, don't do anything to your truck):D

Couldn't have said it better!

Im running the Pro Torque LS converter and am very happy with it. It works great. Its so much better than the POS stocker you wont believe it. Try getting one direct and you might be able to get a slightly lower price.
