Life is good and I have done my good deed for the day!

Home from 2750 mile trip

I've been running Exxon fuel ever since I owned the truck. With larger tires and my mods, I've been getting (consistently) just over 18 MPG (empty truck). I was out of town recently and put an entire tank of Sunoco diesel in. While emptying the tank with a lightly loaded truck, 80 MPH, and the A/C on, I noticed my mileage was noticeably better. It worked out to be over 20 MPG. Has anyone else noticed a big difference with different fuel brands? Has any company out there done a analysis/survey of different diesel fuels?

They all seem about the same to me except with Mobil and Exxon my mpgs have gone down consistanly. I avoid them now.

Diamond Shamrock does it for me. I thought my truck had gotten

broke in. (35k) Consistantly run 23. 5 or better. Put in a tank of

exxon and it dropped to almost 23. I filled up again with Shamrock and I am ave 23. 6 on this tank.

I drive a steady 65 mph for 60 miles one way to work. Running

with traffic I can jump up to 30 mpg. I just sit back and smile.

Love my 6. Now when the childbride drives, it's more like 21 or 22.

Heavy right foot. She didn't like my 99, but she take this one on my days off.

Its ancient history now, but the circumstances may not be all that different. When I was at U of O doing a graduate class in economics, I had to do a "study paper"; I chose the distribution of automobile fuels in Los Angeles County.

I found there were more than 120 brands of gasoline sold there at that time. All the fuel came from 16 distributors, who purchased all of their fuel from just three refineries.

Vaughn

Vaughn is correct and I'll bet the number of distributors has shrunk to less than 3 since then. The base diesel/gasoline is all about the same, the difference is in the additives, or lack of them, that each brand adds.
