Well, with Diesel pushing $3. 00 per gallon, it's time to revive the age old complaint and beat on that dead horse some more.

This anti pollution detuning needs to be remedied and retuned for some decent milage. These engines should get 20+ easy, not 16 or 17.

Anything new we can do?

Rockcrusher, Your rig is about the same as mine. I don't know what anti-pollution detuning you're talking about. . but some trucks are getting 20+ mpg.

Mine went to >24mpg after I had a bed cover installed. That really cut the wind resistance.

You can try switching to a synthetic oil. My mileage went up a little when I went from Delo 15W/40 to Mobile Delvac 5W/40. I also have a TAG in the inlet which helped in the mileage department (not much).

Back and forth cross this country coast to coast, when I want better mileage I slow down. Works every time.

Cheers,

I just got in from a 351. 1 mile trip that took 16. 8 gallons. That is 20. 9MPG. I went no faster than 65MPH, tried to stay under 10lbs of boost when accellerating too. I run 0W40 shell rotella synthetic oil year round. I think the 4" straightpipe helps out a bit too.

Anything new we can do?

Yup, slow down!!
