Don't know about the fuel shutoff but you got the 5000 post!:)

The fuel /governer RPM can be changed with pump adjustments. Be careful not to go too far and over wind the motor. Some of the guys have gone up quite a ways and so far so good.

5000th post

"Mr. Van Etten, you've just posted the 5000th post. What are your going to do now. " " I'm going to Disneyland!"

Cool, #5000.

The reason I'm asking about the cutoff pertains to auto transmission shift points. Fred Swanson is finishing up my DDT install today and being a 2nd gen kinda guy he wasn't famillar with 1st gen cutoff. My pump is stock other than the fuel screw being turned up a little bit.

The first gens are typically governed to 2800 under no-load conditions. The 2nd gens have snuck up to 3300 but I would not venture far over that. I believe (Dave Fritz??) specified the critical speeds of the units. I think at 4000 the crankshaft hits a resonance and can come apart, after that the con rod caps leave the building. I wouldn't suggest anything over 2900 in the older iron...

turned up a hair

Mine was set for 2750 but I have turned it up a little bit more. In park using the throttle cable I have seen 2950. But driving down the road, I have only gotten it up to 2850 at the most. That is fine with me because it did help me shifting up some of these 11% grades around here in VT. Even though I only have an auto, I manually shift a lot, that seems to help. Now if I would only put in my DTT transmission that is still sitting on the garage floor. That would make a WORLD of difference from what I hear.

Hey bvanetten.

The spec for no load max rpm is 2825-2925 rpm.

I set no load rpm to 3250 and get 2900 max with load.

The factory tach redline is at 2900.
