Hello, wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with diesel fuel quality in Baja, Mexico ( winter months of 2016 - 17)? Driving a 2005, with an aftermarket Air dog fuel filter / fuel pump combo. Thanks much, Michael

Take extra filters.
I have a friend down there right now and he says things are a, "bit weird" as the government has de-regulated fuel prices and the folks ain't happy. I haven''t bought diesel down there in 3 or 4 years but we had no problems then.

Pemex is unable to produce ULSD I've read. We supply it via pipeline.
My friend travels to central western Baja frequently and has no issues with fuel quality.
It might even be formulated without ethanol as there is no requirement.
Diesel buses and semi's crowd the Trans-Penninsular and seem to do fine.
South of Guerrero Negro, diesel is LSD shipped over via tanker from the mainland. Additional filters are always advised.

Baja fuel

Thank you gentlemen for your thoughts regarding fuel quality in Baja. Sir, I think you're idea of carrying extra filters is a good one. Fuel delivery is one of the biggest concerns with these trucks. I need to come up with a must have list of parts for this trip and will add filters . Guessing they don't have to worry about winter blend issues. Thank's again guys.

Good question..... I've been pondering driving down into Mexico with my truck but have always wondered if there would be a problem with their available fuel. Certainly dont want to break down across the border.

San Quintin south of Ensenada pumps a lot of diesel for the semi's. I haven't been down in ages but I always stopped there and even El Rosario 40 miles south. From there it's along haul to the next station.
