This is interesting!
I just got back from a 1700 mile trip from Sierra Nevada foothills, to Ensenada, Mexico.

Two drivers : Me, I kept the cruise @ 69 MPH... My Lady friend, love her dearly, drove the truck from between, 60-85MPH
.

The mileage average was 18. 6, **** good for a 7400# truck, with EZ/BDII's/missing waistegate/DTT's goodies.

Pulling 11K 5er. Lots of hills. Maintained 65-70mph. 10mpg!!! I'm gonna slow down a little the next time and see if it makes a difference. One thing I do know, the V10 gas doesn't get 10mpg empty!

Mike, don't know if you were talking highway mileage or not, but my 96 v-10 got consistent 10's not including adjustment for 285's which should make it 11? Nothing to brag about, just what I always got.

Any of you others that are getting the 19-20 mpg start out as low as some of the rest of us? Thanks, Doug

Mine has stayed very consistent since day one. Always between 16-17. I have on occasion had it up to 20, unloaded driving the speed limit. Towing my 16 ft car hauler with one 2500 lb buggy I get around 15. With my 24 ft gooseneck and 2 buggies(10,000 lb total) with the wind I get 13-15, and against the wind I get around 11-13. This is with an average speed of 65. Lots of grades, too. Climbing from 1000 ft to 7000 ft, and up and down a few times in between. Get an EZ, it does improve mileage.

For better mileage remove half of your valves, all those extra valves just stir up the fuel so much it doesnt know what to do.

Don't know about the 24 valve but my 12 fuel mileage depends on how heavy my right foot is. My mileage results towing a 20' Holiday Rambler (5,900 lbs. )
Cruise set at
75 I get 13. 8 mpg
70 I get 14. 1 mpg
65 I get 17. 1 mpg, and I arrive about 9 minutes later than at 75 mph for every 75 miles.
I haven't tried at 60, might get run over by the 18 wheelers.
Think I'll stick to 65.

My GCWR is 19,200 and at 75mph depending on head wind I get between 10. 8 and 11. 8. If i drop down just under 70mph it goes up to between 12. 9 and 14. 75. If I am under 65mph I get between 14. 75 and 15. 75.
With out the trailer the highest I have seen is 17. 5. Truck weighs 9100 alone.
I have the VA and PS boost mod. Highest egt's on a long pull at 65 in 5'th were 1000 post turbo,(very briefly) usually at 950 on long pulls.
