Fuel Economy Mods?

Hi Guys:



After reading the forums here it seems there are about 4 major things that can be done to increase mileage.



What is the approx increase from each mod, and in what order should they be done?



Platform is 2004. 5 Quad Cab 4x4 325hp w/ 48RE.



1) FASS

2) Chip (VA duration, Edge w/attitude or TST?)

3) Increase air inflow

4) Change exhaust

5) Reduce speed Oo.

Get a piece of chain about 12 inches long, and chain your right foot to the base of the seat!



I'm sort of kidding, but so much is dependant on how you drive it.

I already drive it very conservatively..... get about 17MPG combined. My wife plays with the truck more than i do... she's never gotten over 15. 5 MPG; the biggest difference in the way we drive is that she NEVER coasts she is always using power till its time to brake.



I would like to get another 3mpg out of the truck if i can, so what combination of the above mods will do it?

Ok... enough fun... JPalese, have you ever checked your fuel mileage on a long Interstate Freeway trip unloaded? If so what was it?



I get around 21 mpg on long trips--all Interstate driving at 75 with the A/C on, truck loaded with about 800 pounds of me, fuel and tools. But 16-18 combined around town w/ some freeway driving is about what I get, though it has been a few years since I checked it. Around town a lot is dependant on how heavy a foot you have. Really!



Which rear end ratio do you have?

Also TAG users report slightly higher fuel mileage I believe.

Those are the same mods a mechanic told me to do. Just shouldn't have to, to get good mileage

JPalese, I just noticed you have a 4X4. Sorry, I didn't notice it when I checked your profile. Well, a 4X4 quad is a lot heavier than my 2500 reg cab.

More Weight=lower fuel mileage.
