fuel economy?

Hello, my truck uaully gets 11 or 12 mpg in town stop and go and some 10 or 20 miles of open road. 380-390 miles per tank and fills up with 31-32 gals. trip computer is a little off. Should i be getting better mpg?

also a bit of white somke on startup and ticking noise only could goes away once its warm. BTW all filters are new valvoline diesel fuel cleaner every now and then, 12,000 miles on the clock and no cold weather at all i live in miami,fl hot all the time even in the morning. thanks

check the tsb's for your build date... you may be in line for a ecm reflash

My Avg. is about 15. 5, Mine is a SRW though.

Yikes - even with the 4. 10's you should be considerably higher, I'd get it checked out.

the other day with the engine running i began to disconnect the connector to the injectorsand these were my findings. unplugged the connector for first two #1,2 engine began to stuble or run rough, plugged it back and a few seconds later engine ran fine, same procedure and results for the last two #5,6. Now the middle connector for # 3 & 4 WHEN UNPLUGGED AND THEN CONNECTED there was very little or no change to engine operation, like if nothing happened. this leads me to believe these two or one of them is not firing at all or working improperly. Any Thoughts

hope you didn't fry the ecm unplugging the injector's while running... they are driven at ±90vdc and any kick back from unplugging the harness could zap the ecm. . the sensors won't do that as they run at 5vdc

I had to put on 20k before I started seeing better mileage. I do more city driving than open road and just started breking into the 500mi per tank range. Hit the reset on the comp. down the freeway I am getting 22-24 mpg. Probably should have gotten the 4:11 gears . Just keep on driving it, it will do better.

EEESH. I live in Vegas and mine gets 17 to 18 around town and it gets pretty hot here. Like 111 or higher lately.

white smoke and a tick is the signs of a bad injector, how does the engine oil smell? does it smell like it has diesel in it and is it overfull?

no no overfilling of the crankcase and diesel fuel either, just intermitent rough idle and cackle.
