What can be done to reduce the foaming that shuts off the nozzle while fueling, leaving two or more gallons to completely fill the tank on my '99 3500? Trying for maximum range from the 35 gallon tank, that extra fuel comes in handy but it takes nearly as long to dribble in the last two/three gallons as it does to put in the first thirty.

Reduce the rate of flow! Yes take twice as long on the first thity gallons and the last five should be pretty quick. So bring your favorite mystery novel with you the next time you fill up.

I saw a guy once pull the left side of his truck up on 6" blocks in order to get more fuel in his tank #ad
. Seems a bit extreme up it works. He had the system down pretty good too, only took him a few seconds to do it.

Stay away from the big nozzles. While they are quick, they create a lot of foam.

Tilt the nozzle @ a right angle to the neck and slowly squeeze the lever so the fuel flows clear. A bit slow for the last few gallons, but you will be full. As a former PSD owner w/ dual tanks, this was the only way to completely fill the rear tank. The block trick helped also.

I'm fixin' up a block and getting a small library set up in the truck but my wife has suggested that I just schedule local fueling for when Rush is on and then I won't care how long it takes as long as I can listen to him.

Could also try different stations. I did a post about this back in April. BrandA I could only get 25-27 gal in a fillup. When to BrandB. Consistently puts in 28-30gal per fillup.

Other than the first transition tank. MPG calculations are coming out the same. No change in mileage. However I can now go 50-60 mi per tank farther. Which lead me to believe in the foaming problem, and the flow rates at the two stations.

I always carry an ample supply of RUSH cd's in my truck. I never care how long it takes.

When I bought my first diesel from Dave Smith in 1992, the dealership told me to run fuel in the tank at the slowest setting on the pump nozzle, so as to make as little foam as possible. When the automatic clicks off, quit.
Thats the way I have always done it. And with my '98 if I try to put more in, it pukes violently for 2 or 3 feet out from the truck.

I carry alot of music and if the only thing on the radio during fillups was the bigmouth I wouldn't need FM at all. Count me in on the Rush fan list. And as far as the blocks on the phord, I had one at work I got new in 92 and had it till last year. I WILL NEVER AGAIN PUT A BLOCK UNDER A WHEEL TO PUT FUEL IN A VEHICLE. I DID IT FOR A 100K MILES AND FORD DID THEIR JOB AT KEEPING ME FROM BUYING ONE OF MY OWN. I'm not kidding, it took me 15 min. to fill both tanks. It's not bad when its 60 deg or up but when it's 20 and the wind is blowing you have to wonder who would have designed such a poor system and got paid to do it.
