Anyone have a source for fuel fills for an aux tank?

Farm store has one, but it looks cheap and they want almost $50.

Not having luck with google searching.

Nate, go to a junkyard and get one out of something there. Then you get a filler neck that has a flange for mounting, and takes a regular cap. Those hydraulic fill caps can let water in, if not protected.

The aux tank I have is a 50 gallon saddle tank from a dump truck. It has the sending unit and pickup tube for the fuel. The filler neck appears to be a short piece of threaded 2" black iron pipe welded to the tank. It has a brass screw on cap with a gasket in it. That works well.

I built my own 50 gallon tank for the front of the bed. I bought 2 cap/filler assemblies from Tractor supply. They have a short neck with male pipe threads and a large cap that has a hole for a lock. The cap looks like a old style cap with a cover tack welded on. The lock is not very secure but will keep someone from just walking up and removing it easily. At around $30 each I think they are overpriced but I bought them for the neck. To use these just buy what is called a tank flange. They have different pipe thread sizes and all have a flange around them to weld on. You should be able to find them at a good metal supply company. I have not come up with a solution for a gauge yet. I decided to build my own tank to not sacrifice bed space, my tank is even with the top of the bed and goes all the way across but only uses 9" of bed space. I also added 2 baffles and used a pipe flange for the pickup and added one extra for future need. Check 393. 67 at the USDOT web site. Pipe threads are required for fittings. You will learn everything you need to know to be legal. This also covers the expansion issue from your other thread.
