Fuel Filter Canister leaking

When I got to work this morning, I smelled diesel. I looked under the hood and saw fuel spraying out of a black disc in the top of the fuel filter canister. There are two wires coming out of the disc. It does not appear to unscrew. It looks molded into the top of the canister. I am assuming that it is the fuel heater.

Can anyone confirm this? Has it happened to anyine else? If so, does the whole canister have to be replaced or is it replacable?

Thanks in advnace.

My dealer tells me that the closest Fuel Filter Canister is on Ohio and that they are on backorder. Thye suggested Cummins as a source. I believe that the heater is part of the canister.

Cunnins wants the ehgine number, which I do not have with me. Is there anyone out there that might be able to come up with a part number, range of engine numbers or anything that can help.

Thank Ypu

Fuel Leak

AC

I had a leak in my fuel system to which I bought a complete new canister ($165) from Cummins. Mine turned out to be a bad quick disconnect fitting. I have one if you need it and if it would work for you.

Just to update everyone. I stopped by the truck today to get the engine number. I turned the key on to make sure that it was leaking from the canister. The fuel heater had evidently cracked and fuel was getting into the heater and it started to smoke.

Beware ! If you get a leak here, it could be dangerous.
