I change mine every 5,000 miles along with the oil & filter. I guess its over kill but cheap insurance to me. coobie :D

10k miles on my truck that gets fueled wherever it may be at the time and 15k on my work trucks that get fuel from my bulk tank (that has its own filter). I have had at least one occasion where one of my personal trucks had a fuel filter plug up just after 10k, I have now made that my interval.

Way overkill. I've been changing these things every 15K or 12 months since I first bought the 99 never had any issues!!!!.

Mac

First change at 5K to get rid of any fines that might be in the tank. The filter was very dirty.

The second at a 7500 mile oil change. The filter looked better. I will probably change the filter every 7500 to 10K from here on out. Have about 16K miles on the truck now.

I'm with coobie. It's easier to keep track of... every 5K. . oil, oil filter, fuel filter.

Every 15k and didn't look too bad. Got a friend who has gone as long as 30k and it wasn't terrible. He did say OPPS. He trys for 15k

I plan to do mine at 15k. Ive never had a drop of water in the fuel, (knock on wood). Im planning to buy several at Genos in the next month. I just rolled over to 10,000 miles last week. Still runs great with only minor problems that are expected with any new truck. about 16mpg in town and at 68mph Ive done 23mpg on the highway. Anything over that and it drops rather quickly.

It is indeed cheap insurance.

I previously changed mine every 12k miles or so... . after seeing how nasty they can get in as little as 6k miles and given the complexity of the fuel system and injectors on the HPCR engines, I'll drop the $11. 25 (very cheap insurance) or so every oil change (around 7k miles as I run 5W40 Rotella-T Synthetic) on a Fleetguard FS19579 fuel filter.

Reminder

Please remember that a dirty filter actually filters BETTER than a brand new filter. Theoretically, a filter is removing the maximum amount of contaminants just before it completely plugs up. I know a lot of people think they're doing their fuel system a "favor" by changing the filter frequently; you may not be doing any good at all.

Please keep that in mind when selecting a filter change interval.

I change mine usually when the fp drops or 12-15k whenever I feel like it. My daughters band director has the same 2000 as mine and did his first at 65000 miles with no ill effects. Its still running properly at over 100k (and more regular changes)
