I have a '99 2500 but a service manual for a 2000. The information in the service manual on fuel filter changes does not apply to my '99. It looks like maybe the filter housing comes off but I want some idea what I'm doing before I start removing things. Can anyone let me know how I get in there & change that filter?

Thanks,

On my 99 I had u loosed the nut off of the center of the housing and the filter came off the bottom. The nut might get to the point where you can turn it with your fingers, but b sure to hold the fuel to keep it from falling and making a mess. Let me know if you need more info

yes, sp longhorns right, just make sure u drain the fuel filter canister first and be careful because there is still some fuel in it when u remove the bottom and tighten nut to 10 lbs or 120 inch lbs

R&R the fuel filter.

Filter had a grey coating all around it. I could scrap it off and see the white filter underneath.

Is that normal?

And yes, filter goes on a 10,000 mile schedule. Is that similiar to what everyone else is doing?
