After searching the site a bit, and getting some good instruction, I went ahead and changed the filter. It was a surprisingly easy task, and will NEVER take it to the dealer for this simple service EVER again. Anyway, on to the questions-

When I took out the filter, of course some diesel fuel came out with it, and I was very surprised in its color. . It was a bluish green, (I thought it was suppose to have a yellow tint to it) is this normal?

Also, when I loosened the Fuel Filter Cannister, the filter itself was attached to it, I never saw this in any of the instructions via search, so I thought that I would mention it, is this also normal?

Other than these questions, this was a breeze! And I would reccomend ANYONE who has the tools, to do it yourself, and leave the dealer out of it. Oo.

When I changed mine at 15,000 miles, the filter was completely black. Assuming that the filter stops - but does not hold - some of the impurities, I would expect the fuel behind it to have some color.

Yes, there are clips in the cap that hold the filter. I guess it makes it easier than trying to fish the filter out of the cannister, but it sure feels like somethings gonna break before they turn loose.

That filter - bought from a dealership - came with a sheet with very clear instructions. I don't know if the ones from Cummins have the sheet, but I'll find out soon. I have almost 25,000 miles on the truck now.
