Hey guys, i've got a 07 5. 9L and i'm at about 15k miles. I know i'm due for my fuel filter change but i've never done this before. This site is such a great resource for info, I thought i'd ask you guys the correct procedure for it. It looks pretty straight forward but I just want to be sure there might not be something important that I miss. Thanks

Welcome to TDR! You'll love this site, but you better chain your wallet shut! LOL If the fuel filter is anything like the one on the '04's and such, you just unscrew the top on the canister with a big size wrench (don't remember the size), unclip the filter from the lid that you unscrewed and slap the new one on the lit and screw it back down. I also drain the canister while I have the filter out just to get everything out of there. Hope this helps. I'll try to figure out what size wrench you need.

Yep, just unscrew the top with the 1 1/8" wrench/socket, open the drain cock, swap filters and the o-ring. Smelly but easy:) I would also reccomend a shorter interval on the FF. I do mine every 10k. In the past I ran into problems going over 10k so I changed and never had an issue again. These engines are pretty sensitive to dirty fuel.

I use a cut off 1-1/8" wrench on mine too, the size is actually 28MM as I don't think there are any inch size fasteners on the truck. The top is plastic so you don't want to get carried away with the big wrench, just snug it down. :) bg

After you close the filter canister back up and close the drain valve turn the ignition on without starting the truck to allow the fuel pump to fill the cinister back up with fuel.

Do you use the same method on 2006

I have never change the fuel filter either. My 2006 has 10,000 miles on it and I guess it time to change the fuel filter also. So do I use the same method also. Thanks. :D
