Fuel Filter Change TDR#52

I did not receive Issue #52. (new kid to TDR. ) I read in TDR#57 there was an article about how to change a fuel filter to prevent contamination. Is there any way for someone to fill me in on what it said or post the article?

Not sure what the article is right off, but if you have the cannister type ('97-up?), drain the cannister first, using the water/sediment drain cock on the housing. It will drain the fuel through the "straw" that runs out of the housing. There is not really a contamination issue on the spin-on filters, unless you get trash into the top of the filter as you struggle and fuss to put it back on!

On my '03, I drain the housing with the yellow drain handle, then remove the filter. I have the metal top cap from Genos. I would HIGHLY recommend it if your filter comes out the top (cartridge/cannister type).

I read it in the TOPIC INDEX section this last issueTDR. If I open that valve will it all drain out ? Will I do this before I open the canister or after?

It's better to do drain it when the spin off top is still on the canister.
