Well she's at 5000 miles and I had my oil changed at the dealer's today and I changed my fuel filter myself when I got home. Man, I noticed a difference in throttle response when I took her out for a test drive. I suggest to change the thing for those guys preparing for a race day. It's easy. Shouldn't take 10 minutes and cost $10 dollars. You'll feel it. I plan to change the fuel filter every 5000.

Maybe it has to do with the Power Service and two gallons of Bio Diesel I add to every tank. Bio Diesel really cleans you're system out so it's advisable to keep an eye on the filter and change it often when running Bio Diesel. Someone mentioned their fuel filter looked like a chunk of coal. Mine wasn't that bad.

I have 14k on mine and I plan to change it sometime next week. Was going to order some from Genos but I think Ill just do a Napa this time.

15k is when I serviced mine. Ran no differant. Got a buddy that goes 30k on his. Says he can't tell a differance. He's got 110k on his truck now.

In 25 years of owning diesel engined vehicles, I've only noticed an improvement twice. Once in my Mercedes-Benz 300-D, which was almost completely clogged. The new filter made a BIG difference.

The other time was the first filter change on my '91. 5 Dodge W-250. When I changed the filter, I noticed a throttle response improvement, immediately.

Back in those days, I was buying diesel at local gas stations. Since I started buying at truck stops (Flying-J, etc. ), I have not had any problems, at all.

PS: I change filters every 2nd oil change (10-14,000 miles) and none of the filters really looked filthy. In faact, I keep them incase I get a load of bad fuel. Rather than put a brand new filter on, I would install one of the old ones to clean the fuel tank.

That's a clever idea! Maybe I'll do it...

You other guys, never forget, it's possible to change a filter too often! A filter is trapping the maximum amount of contaminants just prior to plugging up (actually, when it's plugged up it's the perfect filter - it traps everything! ). A new filter doesn't filter as well as a used one.

Great idea! Stick it in a ziplock bag, put that one inside another, and you should be good to go!
