A friend has a 2002 3500 Stock Auto that needs a fuel filter change.

Is there much difference between it and my stock 1995 2500.

Mine is like changing the oil filter, remove old, clean mounting surface, fill new filter on just tight enough so it comes off easy next change.

Rex McKinney 1995 2500 stock except deep transmission pan.

It's easy, just different than your 95. The 02 is a drop in canister filter. Use a socket (1 1/8" i think) to unscrew the cover, and then the cover and filter will come up together. The filter will pop off the cover with hand pressure and the new filter will snap onto the cover. change the orings and reinstall.

NOTE --- if the filter housing has the square in the top that looks like a 1/2" ratchet will work , DO NOT use it, they are prone to break and crack and then you have to buy a new top. be sure to cycle the key a few times to let the lift pump fill the canister and your done. took longer to type this that it will to change the filter. ;)

Don't do the job on a slanted driveway with a low fuel tank... becomes difficult to start. And as stated above, bump the motor a couple times to purge the air out of the filter housing.

Dave,
On my 95 I have a bleeder valve on the top that I open and pump the manual lift pump until fuel comes out.
Is there not a bleeder valve on the 2002?
There is a fitting on the back side of the filter housing that looks lit it could be a breather valve.
