Fuel filter change

1992 DODGE 250 2WD



While changing the fuel filter, the hollow stud type mounting fixture came off with the filter. Also above the filter, a round plastic and metallic piece with wires attached came loose, all successfully reinstalled.



My question is what is this piece with the wires attached -

a sensor or heater maybe????

It's the water sensor the triggers your "Water in fuel" light to come on.

Thanks guys for the replies. A fuel heater it is. I believe the water sensor is in the bottom of the filter until proven otherwise
