My drain valve is leaking when the engine is running. Just a steady drip, but enough to leave a mess on the ground and under the frame of the truck. How can I repair the valve and what should I look for to replace parts of the valve.

. . . How can I repair the valve and what should I look for to replace parts of the valve. . .
Opening and closing the valve a few times may cure the drip.

Mopar P/N 5015580AC DRAIN, Fuel Filter Bowl works for, at least, model years 2000-2002. It lists for $27. 50 and can be found for less than 20.

I found on my 01 that on the top of the valve is a ring that can be tightened down. occasionally mine would vibrate alittle loose and would leak. re-tightening it would cure the problem. the lever comes up thru the top of the ring.

hope this helps,

Mine also leaked but operating a few times stoped it. I had never in 112,000+ miles had water in there so I guess I am fortunate; maybe because I change the fuel filter every other oil change, I know overkill. I stopped using the dang drain anymore because it always seemed to leak afterward. I use a turkey baster to empty the fuel filter canister for the fuel filter change and put fuel in glass jar to check for water and have found none yet there either.
