Let's put this rumor to rest

Extended Idle How Long Is Too Long????

I'm not worried about the gradual accumulation of water. It's getting a load of bad fuel that is the worry. I think Steve got a load of junk fuel some time ago and it was a big hassle.

Sometimes I wonder about this CARB fuel formulation. I have seen zero water in my fuel. There should have been some sometime or other. So far, none. I checked it after a long time of not checking. Still no water even after letting the fuel sample sit over night in a glass jar. Does the CARB fuel disperse water so that it stays in suspension and goes thru the system? I should have seen some water after all that time. Hard to believe that the fuel I've been getting is that clean. When I was running the boat there was water in the fuel quite often. Of course, in a marine environment there is condensation everywhere all the time.

I get my fuel from a CFN station. Most of the time here in Eureka. The rest in Roseville. Sometimes (rarely)in Williams. It's priced kind of high in Roseville, but it's convenient and I like the billing thru a local dealer that I know. Lowest price in the area here in Eureka.

I just changed my filter today after about 20k and there was no sediment in the canister but what really got my attention was the fact that the bigger center o-ring was out of it's groove on the filter and the top of the filter was pushed down a bit on that side. It looks like when I put it on the last time it didn't seat in on one side!!!! YIKES. This time I grabbed the canister and wiggled it all the way up intil it was tight to make sure that o-ring went into place. First time I have had this happen. So anyone with a canister type filter be very careful when installing it.

this is starting to look like a pick on poor 'ol Joe thread :D

(the main function of a 6/71 is to convert fuel into noise) . . boy isn't that the truth !!

Yeah, Gary. A screaming jimmy is NOT one of my favorite ways to go somewhere. After three days of running with the throttle against the stop we were ready to jump overboard. You can always tell a boat with one of those. There are several layers of carpet in the wheel house. Helps a little, but not much. The blasted things are indestructable on top of all that.
