Wholly carp... I called my dealer.. the OEM cord for a 19+ HO is $111 plus tax... Guess I'll be buying the Geno's one for $25 and I can put on my own Christmas trees...

I think I found one on ebay for about 75$... what is the best way to confirm the P/N is correct? The local dealer did not give me the P/N, just told me he could get it overnight for north of a biscuit and a Benjamin.

For the price of the OEM you can get the Geno's with bumper mount and have beer money left. Why would you want to pay extra for a piece of extension cord?

As John said, the OEM one has the heat shielding and all the OEM mounting locations so no worries about zip ties, cord chafing, etc... The bumper mount one Geno's sells I think is neat, but does not have the OEM locking ring to keep it attached to the element.. Not sure if its important but it is a $90k truck so whats another $25.... I have lots of beer so I will not be going without.

i ended up splicing the genos bumper kit to the factory cord because it HAD the locking ring...the bumper receptacle is very convenient. cheers! :)

Appreciate the feedback. I was in a bind this time so I ended up buying the rear filter at my local dealer.....ouch!!...that hurt the pocket....but I will be ahead of the game for the next round.

The lady at the parts counter kindly informed me that the rear fuel filter was too difficult to change for most of their customers. She highly recommended that I have the dealer do it. I politely declined...but I have to admit her words of caution concerned me. I jumped on the computer when I got home and promptly searched for a video on how to accomplish this highly complicated task. After watching two videos (first one really didn't show the actual removal and re-installation of the filter) I decided that there could only be a few reasons she told me this task was so difficult....1. She didn't know what she was talking about...2. Their other customers have absolutely no mechanical savvy....3. She lied. In either case I look forward to dedicating 30 minutes or so of my time to replacing both filters as soon as the engine mounted filter arrives. Gotta love my local Ram dealer....:p

Im going with option one or two.... Its not hard at all... The lesson I learned was to drain the housing... then leave the drain OPEN, when unscrewing the housing otherwise you will get a surprise of fuel as it did not drain all out untill I cracked the seal open.

Ordered.. called my local RAM dealer to see if they would match or sell it to me reasonably and they said NO...

I've bought a few cords from Geno's over the years for my trucks. I've also modded the bumper mounted plugs for a few of our cranes so that they have a weather proof cover. The locking mechanism they provide works well enough to have never caused problems in any of the cords I've installed.

The bumper mount cord I got for mine is going strong with no issues after 3 seasons. On my pre-winter check list is to check the plug wiring. Amount I saved was way more than the cable ties and heat insulation cost me! I have those things on hand for general repair of vehicles and tractors! Bumper mount is great and has been weather tight!!!! Just remember to hang cord over mirror as a reminder to unplug! Going to make a mirror covers with slot for cord on passenger side. I know they're heated, but sometimes you can't wait that long! JM2C gang. Enjoy these trucks!

Yeah,,, I hear ya.. I got the OEM one for not much more than the aftermarket at the end... and it will fit and appear as factory. As my wife put it, its a 90$k truck just spend the extra couple bucks to get the one thats made for it. I totally do the research but in this case, I think I'll keep it stock. I live in NC and dont use it that much so no need for a permanent mount all year.

I’m still amazed at the MSRP of the OEM unit. The cold weather group is a $145 MSRP option on a new truck and includes the cord and a winter front, seems like a bargain.

The OEM protection group, xcase skid plate, isn’t that great of deal thou. MSRP of $95 but the parts can be had for $35 or so.

ITs the huge cost of labor. It’s installed for $95…

Does anyone have a FSM for the 19+ trucks? I was curious if anyone had a screen shot (or could) of the installation / removal for the block heater cord? I don't know if its a pull the fender liner job like everything was on the 04.. or if there were any tricks or secrets to doing it quickly and more importantly correctly.. The OEM cord for my 20' will be here Friday and with another round of ice and snow for NC, with cold weather for the foreseeable week, Id like to get it installed this weekend.

Brother, for a $90K truck, I would buy the FSM. There's parts of it lacking, but better than a sharp stick in the eye.:D
