I replaced the fuel filter canister on my 98. 5 with one from an 01. Really didn't like the mess and the skinned arms from changing the original. Everything hooked up and worked fine but the wires for the "water in fuel" and for the fuel heater will not fit the newer style. Went to Cummins and asked about the connectors and got a funny look. Didn't figure the dealer would be any better so I didn't go there. Does anyone know where these connectors can be purchased or has someone changed to an aftermarket system and might have some laying around. Would very much appreciate any info on this. Don't want to change back but don't know how cold it has to be before I will have a problem.

I just did the same thing last week... . 98. 5 to a 2000 black top ff canister. Cummins had the wif sensor when i get home tonight i will try to get the number. I ended up buying a wire harness off ebay just to get the plug for the fuel heater.

Woha just found the #for the wif cummins pt# 3823256.

I went through 2 cummins places and never did find the part number for the fuel heater,i would like to know.

I just cut the plug off the old housing and cut the new plug off the wireharness and put them together and heat shrinked em, got a plug on both ends now. Put it on the truck last night. I will look to see if the plug has a # on it and get back to ya.

Thanks Dirk, I had the same thoughts about looking for a wiring harness to get the connectors from. Had bought a used '01 engine for a spare and they removed the harness before I got it. If we can't get the numbers I'll call and see if they still have the harness, that might be the easiest way to go.

Nope no # on the plug. I would check with the guy where you got the motor. If anybody get's the correct # for the plug please post it.

Good luck hope you find one. The temp here is supposed to get to the high 30's this week so i am glad to have the heater, got a load of b100 in the truck right now and need to mix some pd with it.

Thanks again Dirk, I thought maybe someone had changed one out and had the plugs, but I guess not. I'm going to call the man tomorrow where I bought the engine. I'm in Al. and he is in Ar. but I need to talk to him anyway. Maybe he still has it. It is warmer down here but I might have to go north at any time. I'll let you know what happens.
