Changed my fuel filter today. When I threaded the filter off the threaded mounting shaft the shaft turned also. Not sure if thats normal.

I held the shaft so it wouldn't turn and when I got the filter off I just threaded the shaft back into its hole hand tight and then put the new filter on. I'm thinking I might have missed a step.

Thanks any info and opinions.

The threaded stud will either have a slot, for a large blade style screwdriver, or it will take an Allen key to tighten it properly. Shadrach

durn things. The PO of one of my trucks who shall remain name-less (right Tugger) used vice grips to tighten... ... .

Oh man... ...

So I removed it and bought one for a industrial engine and deleted that heater. No more loose heater seal to monkey with.

I don't have the heater, but I did put down my vicegrips when I read your post.

The slots at the bottom of the shaft look like the best bet.

Thanks folks.

Yea,,,, the VG method only complicates matters and makes you loose your temper when you have to wrench the new filter on all the way. It don't come off either w/o removing the fuel pipe nipple, again.

Mine (my pipe nipple that is ;)) wouldn't stay tight so last time I added a little loctite. Next time I change the filter I'll know if it helped.

We like tight nipples.

I was here. You guys had it under control, well, until Jay chimed in.

I figured you didn't need my $. 07 worth. (my opinion is worth more ;))
