Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel Filter O Ring

Just finished my first fuel filter change at @ 15,000 miles. The cap to the fuel filter (as from the factory) did not have an O Ring. Has anyone else experienced this?



Don't laugh at this but I assume the O Ring seals the top lid and goes above the threads to serve as a seal between the cap and the housing, right?



All went well, started and ran well on first try and no leaks.

It should have had one, and you are correct as to where it goes and what it does. Good job!
