I want to put a pusher pump on my 99 but i want to add a in line srew on filter ( i think i can get this kit and filter at NAPA) filter that mounts on the frame rail and i also want to put a pressure guage ( Where can i get a pressure Guage) on it so i can see what i am getting at idle. When i do this do i still need to run the stock fuel filter or can i get rid of it. If anybody has some directions on how to do this can you point me in the direction of them. The main reason i am wanting to do this is to save me vp-44. Should i put the pusher pump on a switch so I can turn it on and off for starting the truck becuase i have heard that it can bypass the vp-44 and they wont fire if there is too much pressure from the pusher pump.

I dont know what type of filter you are going to be putting on, but if it filters 10 micron or less, then you wouldn't need the stock one. I would NOT recommend putting a fuel pump on a switch for safety reasons..... Say you get in a wreck, your unconsious(spelling??), and the fuel line is ruptured and a fire starts. Then your just feeding the baby until a big fire or explosion.

You can get an adapter from somewhere that has a wire already T'ed off to run the pusher pump. Most people run that wire as a trigger wire to a relay and then run the power from the relay to the pusher. One thing you could do, is wire it up with the T and relay, and then put a switch on the trigger wire, so no matter what, if the truck is shut off, the pump wont run.

With my 01. 5 in sig. i have been running a carter pusher for over a year with about 22 psi at idle, and haven't ever had starting issues. About the gauge, genos is probably a good place. I use an autometer electric gauge, and have had GREAT luck with it, no sender trouble ever, and has been on for over two years ago.

If i confused you more im sorry, and if more questions please ask!! Good luck!!

Yeah, i have heard of people having trouble with start up, if the pressure is too high, and if the diaphram in the VP has exceded its intended limit of . 5mm i. e. your lift pump went out and didn't supply enough fuel to the vp. if you do experience hard start up, I've heard of people running a switch triggered by oil pressure, that requires about 4lbs, this way the motor starts cranking before fuel is deliverd. I'd also run bigger fuel lines, and skip the whole banjo bolt thing. I just ordered a FASS, but it was $600 so I can understand not wanting to go that route.

Good luck

Sean

Does anybody else know anything about where i can get these supplies for the filter mount and what filter i should run. ANy help would be appreciated.

i will try to get some pics off of my truck this weekend for you. I used vulcans big line kit to start with but only ended up with two of the fittings wiring and the relocation bracket actually being used. I cant remember the number for the filter housing from napa but i started with a 3123 filter water seperator and am now running a 3125 fuel filter(ten micron with no water drain)

the 3123 sat a little bit too low for my tastes. i completly eliminated the stock ff housing.

What's wrong with the stock filter? Seems to me having the heater, and water separator are good things.

On the switch thing.

I have my pusher pump switched but it is a oil pressure switch so when the engine starts it comes on automaticlly and if I were to be in a wreck it would also shut itself off.

Just a tip for ya!

Jeremy

everything you need to relocate and improve your fuel system is availible in one easy kit, Vulcan Big Line Kit. www.vulcanperformance.com

this kit has the pusher pump mounting bracket, wire harnes extension, 1/2" hose and fittings, fuel pressure tap for either an electrical guage or mechanical guage, see www.genosgarage.com for guages, and is the best $129 I ever spent on a vehicle.

mine was leaking around the wires for the fuel heater. that was my whole reason for eliminating it.
