I'm pretty sure I know what happened, but I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else.

Changed oil and fuel filter the other day, did everything just like I normally do, changed all o-rings, put fuel on them, etc... truck started and ran fine, drove it about 30 miles, no leaks, no issues. The next day I drove about 15 miles, cut it off, got back in about an hour later and drove about 5 miles, and so on and so forth. As soon as I got home I was sitting in the truck in Park, still running getting all my stuff together when I smell diesel fuel.

Well, there was an Exxon Valdez in my driveway. I got a light and had my better half start the truck while I looked and it was coming out very quickly around the water drain valve, but not out of the tube at all.

Any ideas? Anyone ever have this happen to them?

Sorry for the novel and thank in advance.

You might check the o-ring to make sure it didn't get cut on instalation- maybe there was a bur on the filter.

Mine started doing the same thing. Checked o ring, was ok, got it to all most stop but could never quite stop it. Finally bought a new water sensor from Geno's for about $20. It has not leaked since. I think that the many fuel filter changes over the years the plastic threads on the sensor just worn down enough to cause a problem. :-laf

Well, RJ did you ever get to the bottom of this ? I'm curious 'cause my fuel in water sensor is seeping /dripping, maybe less than yours is, but it does foul things up over time.

The valve is nearly new, having been replaced when the original (1997) valve died in Amarillo, TX spewing much fuel !

I should add I have the Prime-Loc, so even though my truck is a '97, I have the spin-on fuel filter w/ sensor. But both the filter on the mount, and the plastic water in fuel sensor are as tight as can be made by hand, yet there still is seepage. I searched for this problem - it doesn't seem to be super prevalent.

Maybe I have another fuel pressure restriction somwhere else, causing this. The Prime-Loc mount to adapter lines are brand new & no leaks there.

It's quite a time, eliminating leaks from this rig - can't give up now ! Ideas ?

Thanks, David B. :)
