fuel filter question

about every 2-3 times i fill up i drain the water out of the fuel filter and it sure seems like a lot comes out lately, like it runs all over the stations drive and by the time i am finished filling up it is still coming out. and yes, the engine is shut off. how much should drain out? thanks

I am of the understanding that when you open the petcock and drain, you are draining whatever water has been separated out and then fuel. the couple times I have done it, I have seen no water. I suspect you are mainly draining fuel onto their drive.

If the engine is shut off your just draining out how much the canister holds. Your not doing it with the engine running cause then your gonna have a lot. I only drain mine when I change the fuel filter and never have got any water.
