I have a 97 2500. I was sold a FS19579, and I just found out that it is for a 2000-2003.

My question is will it fit into my canister or do I need to get the FS19598. I currently use the LF3894 oil filter, the Stratapore that is for the 24 valve engine, when I should be using LF 3552, the Micro glass.

I didn't want to get the whole thing tore down to find out it doesn't fit.

Thank you in advance.

Can't comment on the fuel filter. The oil filters LF3894 and LF3553 used on the 24's can be used on the 12v. The 12v filters can't used on the 24's.

I saw a LF3552 and it said on there that it was for the 4 cylinder B series engine(3. 9L), and not to be used on the 5. 9L. The LF3553 is a Micro-glass filter that can be used on the 5. 9L engine. I have used both the 3894 and the 3553 filters.

I just installed my first 3894 today, used the 3553 last time and it was the cleanest I had seen before. Before using the Fleet-gard filters, I was using Baldwins and had used one or two Wix filters before that.

Geno Garage has on their web site the 3552 is for the 12v engine.

I don't know. I get more confused by the day when I find out thing about the CTD. I should quit readind things so my head doesn't explode.

Filters

Ahem... . I do happen to have two microglass oil filters and two fuel filters for sale in the classifieds. All are for a '97. I sold my '97 and bought an '02. All are Fleetguard and all were purchased from Geno's.

All are brand new and in the wrapper.

LF3552 has been the recommend FleetGuard oil filter since they replace the LF3449 standard filter. Been running either of these on two trucks since 1990 and over 325,000 miles without a problem.

Never heard of a LF3553??? Is it bigger? Better?

Looked to be the same size. Not sure what the difference is or why that was printed on that filter. Is the LF3552 a micro-glass also? I could tell some difference from the Balwins I had been using before. The Baldwins seemed to do a decent job, but the LF3553 looked to leave the oil a little cleaner.
