Brandon,
If you would like, Geno's also sells a Prime-Loc fuel filter relocation kit. The kit relocates the filter to the top and left side of the engine, this makes filter changes easy and cheap. On your '97 you would loose the canister type filter and replace it with a cartridge screw-on type filter. It looks exactly like the one you bought from the Dodge dealer, it's a Fleetguard FS 1253 and sells for 12. 45 at Geno's. one of the main benefits of the Prime-Loc kit, is the truck doesn't loose it's prime on a filter change. Just pour the fuel from the filter you removed into the new one and screw it back on. It is fast, easy and no mess. Give it some thought.
I included a picture of my '97 with a Prime-loc. I also use two gauges(inlet and outlet) to monitor the fuel filters condition, if their is much of a difference between the inlet and outlet pressure the filter needs changing. I have found that there is no way to simply go by mileage or months (10,000 or 12 months) for when to change the filter. There are just to many filling stations that do not keep their filters clean, I go by my gauges.
