Has anyone installed the fuel filter relocation kit, I think it is from Geno's? I am considering investing the $100 plus $$ for the kit because I think it would get me to change out the filter on a more consistent basis. Anyone use this, and does it install easy and work well?

My feeling with filter relocation kits is that they get in the way of other engine componets and are a waste of money. After you change your stock filter a couple of times it becomes an easy 15 minute job.

I agree with Bill on this one. The stock fuel filter is not hard to change after some experience. There have been some problems reported with the remote location fuel filter kits in some old posts. Waste of money to get something in the way and might cause problems.

I had the PrimLoc fuel filter relocater installed by my local Cummins shop about 4 years ago and have not had a problem with it.

I believe Prime-Loc has a set up that will mount to the fire wall. The over the intake looks nice but gets in the way of Inspections. I'm going to use the Prime-Loc filter head only and make my own bracket to mount on the fire wall. The original filter head is going to disappear and will plumb every thing to the remote head. As many have mention, its not hard to change it from the stock position but I have to personalize it my style.

I have a relocation kit and love it . Got tired of scraping my knuckles trying to get the darn thing off with a strap wrench and spilling diesel everywhere. Now I can take it off in about 2 minutes by hand. Makes it a hell of a lot easier especially if you clog one up on the road. Call Tom at Filter Engineering In Corona ca. He sort of invented the first remote and has it patented. While your at it ask about the remote coolant filter. We installed the 1st one ever on a Ram on my truck at his shop. Now he sells the kits. Bracket mounts right on top of your alternator, and keeps the coolant and cooling system clean as a whistle. It uses the same Coolant filter Cummins puts on the big rigs. Great investment.

Prime-Loc

I have the Prime-Loc kit and I agree that, all in all, it's not worth it. While changing the filter in the stock location is not that easy, the Prime-Loc gets in the way any time you want to work on the left side of the engine. I've taken it off more times that I care to count.

The kit from filter engineering installs the bracket right on the pad next to your power brake boost. The filter mounts right close to the drivers side fender. Out of the way of most work areas and very accessable.
