This is what I poured out of the transfer tank fuel filter when it began to show signs of clogging. I'd rather catch it in the water absorbing filter before it goes into the truck tank! I still have never seen water in the fuel filter drain... .

I have a filter for my aux tank, but the first winter I used it the filter gelled and I carried 50 gallons of unusable fuel from IN to WA. I bypassed the filter, and have never hooked it back up. Maybe it is time to do so.

All fuel purchased or made goes into the transfer tank before it goes into the truck. Keeps the crud out of the plastic tank!

I don't have that luxury. When I stop for fuel I need it in both tanks. I did shine a light into the filler neck of the aux tank. Shiny and clean aluminum, no dirt.

The "or made" might be where the crud comes from. It looks suspiciously like french fry sediment:-laf
