Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) Fuel filter ?

Just had the fuel gage module in the tank repaced last week and today while driving in OD I got a dead pedal when under load until I shifted to 3rd. Las time this happened I repaced the fuel filter and it went away. That was only 3000 miles ago. When they lowered the tank to replace the module could that have stirred up enough dirt ect. in the tank to plug the filter. I have a F. A. S. S. system with a Wix filter under a NAPA label. DW
